THE LIVING AND THE DEAD (Taunus-Crime Series Part 7)

A series of murders puts the investigators of the Hofheim police under pressure. There seems to be no connection whatsoever between the victims at first sight. Three people are shot by a sniper – soon the media is calling him the “Taunus Sniper”, spreading insecurity and fear in the public. The investigators Oliver von Bodenstein (Tim Bergmann), Pia Kirchhoff (Felicitas Woll) and Kai Ostermann (Michael Schenk) get support from the profiler Andreas Neff (Simon Schwarz). The sniper seems to be a strategically operating killer.

The police figure out that the surviving family members are the actual victims: all of them had some connection to Kirsten Stadler who suffered from an apoplectic stroke four years ago. After the diagnosed brain death, her daughter Helen (Saskia Rosendahl) had yielded to the pressure of the doctors and approved the transplantation of her body parts. When a will of the deceased appeared declaring herself against organ donation, Helen felt so guilty she eventually committed suicide. A pattern of revenge becomes apparent with the whole transplantation team on the list of possible victims. Suspects come into the firing line, and the sniper is striking again.

Suddenly, a list by Helen appears with the names of every involved person on it that the sniper has in his sight. Oliver von Bodenstein and Pia Kirchhoff don’t believe in a suicide any longer – since the young woman was on the track of a real medical scandal…
